The Stratos Lite III by Jack Wolfskin is a three-person ultralight dome tent designed for backpackers and campers who want to keep pack weight down without giving up basic comfort in the backcountry.

Its flysheet is made from 20 denier recycled nylon Cross Rip Sil, striking a balance between low weight and tear resistance. Inside, 15 denier mosquito mesh lets air flow freely while keeping insects out, and the 40 denier recycled polyester groundsheet adds strength where you need it most. With a floor area of 160 × 220 cm and 110 cm of headroom, there’s enough room to stretch out or sit up, and the dome shape helps shed wind and rain. It also comes with a storage bag and a repair kit so you can handle small fixes on the trail.

Denier (abbreviated D) measures the thickness of fabric threads: lower numbers like 20D mean finer, lighter yarns for weight savings, while higher numbers such as 40D use thicker yarns for greater abrasion resistance. By combining different deniers, this tent keeps overall weight low without sacrificing durability in key areas.

The STRATOS LITE III is a roomy, ultra-lightweight tent designed for trekking and bikepacking that sleeps three people. It is made predominantly from recycled materials.

The lightweight, interconnected DAC aluminium poles make the tent really easy to pitch and ensure good wind stability. Very few pegs are required to anchor the tent - a real advantage when you're pitching it on hard ground. The breathable inner tent and the flysheet are also connected and clip onto the external pole framework.

The flysheet fabric is coated with silicone on both sides. This reduces the weight significantly and increases the tear resistance and UV resistance of the fabric.

Since conventional seam tape does not adhere well to silicon coated (tent) fabrics, we have instead used a special yarn that expands when damp to seal the seams. However, we would also recommend applying an appropriate silicone sealant (available online) to the relevant seams.
